Workforce Development

The Office of Economic Development and its partners are committed to helping employers recruit, hire, train and retain qualified workers. These partners offer a wide range of services to area employers.

CNY Works

CNY Works coordinates local workforce activities for employers and job seekers. They develop educational and training programs for incumbent workers, youth, and adult job seekers who are in need of activities to enhance their employment opportunities. CNY Works also provides grants for employer identified training necessary to improve the specific skills sets of its employees. For more information, please click here.

Onondaga Community College

Onondaga Community College (OCC) operates an Applied Technology Center designed to address the technical training requirements of local companies, including call centers. Talent and Education Development (TEDCenter) at Syracuse University

The Talent and Education Development Center is housed at University College and dedicated to improving the quality of the existing and emerging workforce in the Central New York Region by bringing regional education, economic development and workforce development sectors into closer alignment. Our goal is to ensure that the education and training delivered to students, incumbent workers and career changers provide them with the skills they need to achieve economic self sufficiency. Central New York Technology Development Organization

As a regional member of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the Central New York Technology Development Organization (CNYTDO) is able to deliver various programs on Lean Manufacturing in classroom settings. CNYTDO recognizes that changing methods, methodologies and culture will not happen overnight. Utilizing its resources and those of the 200+ member organization NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership network, CNYTDO provides customized solutions to members of the Central New York region helping with Lean, Six Sigma and Quality System implementations. Training Within Industry Institute

The Training Within Industry (TWI) Institute provides education, training, materials, implementation guidance and connections to TWI practitioners and leaders in industry and business. TWI is a dynamic program which uses a learn-by-doing approach to teach essential skills for supervisors and team leaders from all types of industries and businesses. Manufacturers' Association of Central New York (MACNY)

The Manufacturers' Association of Central New York (MACNY) is one of the oldest manufacturers' associations in the nation. MACNY provides members with the tools, information, and resources they need to compete. Its portfolio of service features regional employee compensation information, human resource consulting, purchasing consortia to reduce costs, custom training, and a connection to an extensive network of manufacturing professionals on both the state and national level. Onondaga, Cortland, Madison BOCES

The Onondaga-Cortland-Madison BOCES develops and provides educational programs and services of the highest quality for businesses, school districts and the community. OCM BOCES will customize training programs for a business located within its three county area. Training is provided at a business location or in one of BOCES' classrooms. The Onondaga Civic Development Corporation

The Onondaga Civic Development Corporation (OCDC) offers an Employee Productivity Program that provides matching grants, up to $12,500, for production and first line supervisory personnel. OCDC will fund 50% of the cost of third-party training for employer-identified skill and productivity improvement classes. For more information, please click here.
