CNY Receives $103.7M in NYS Economic Development Money

As part of Governor Cuomo's NY Open for Business policy initiative, 10 regions across New York drafted 5-year strategic plans and competed for millions of dollars in Economic Development Awards. The Central New York Regional Economic Development Council's plan was chosen as a Best Plan. Among the Onondaga County projects that were backed by the regional council and landed funding were:

  • Syracuse Inner Harbor Redevelopment
  • Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems
  • Central New York Biotechnology Research Center
  • Clay Industrial Park

Central New York's Export Initiative

The Onondaga County Office of Economic Development has partnered with other CNY economic development organizations and the Brookings Institution to develop an Export Initiative. This plan will offer opportunities to our local businesses to enter into or grow in international markets. The plan will integrate market intelligence, export-related services, and policy reforms to help the region better connect its firms to global customers.
