 There are more than 500 congregations representing Protestant,
Roman Catholic, Jewish and Eastern Orthodox faiths. Many participate
in cooperative programs sponsored by the InterReligious Council.
The Roman Catholic Diocese comprises seven counties, 172 parishes,
18 missions and 20 pastoral centers. Sacred Heart Church in Syracuse
was designated as a Minor Basilica in October 1999.
There are
seven synagogues. In addition, Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists
all have active centers of worship.
